Clothe-A-Child

Crosby Care International's Clothe-A-Child program was created to help school-aged children enjoy some of the blessings many take for granted - the greatest of which is a sense of dignity.

Many of the children who participate each year have never owned brand-new clothes, shoes or toys. In the past, those kids had to hang their heads in shame when asked, "So what did you get for Christmas?" But, after their Clothe-A-Child experience, they can lift their heads high and answer that question with big smiles on their faces. (There are big smiles on their parents' faces too)

Throughout the year, funds are collected for Clothe-A-Child through donations and an annual benefit golf tournament. One hundred percent (100%) of the donations designated for Clothe-A-Child go toward providing clothes (and in some cases, a toy) for the participating children.

Working with school counselors , Clothe-A-Child participants are chosen from a long list of applicants, based on financial need. Particpants are from different walks in life, including: low-income families, families headed by seniors on fixed income raising grandchildren, and families who are experiencing temporary financial setbacks.

On the big shopping day, Crosby Care International volunteers gather in the early morning hours at a  department store, armed with big smiles and warm hearts. Volunteer and participant families are paired-up and then the fun begins! The excitement is contagious, for even though the clothes are much-needed items for these families, knowing that people care about them and are willing to help means so much more. Everyone is so appreciative. It truly makes Christmas merry for all who take part.
